MANY PEOPLE THINK THAT LEARNING TO PLAY AN INSTRUMENT IS TOO DIFFICULT AND TIME-CONSUMING…
My teaching experience has shown me this isn’t necessarily the case. With just a little bit of effort, nearly anyone can enjoy playing within a short time. In teaching, my goal is to provide a comfortable, friendly, and positive learning environment along with proper guidance. The curriculum is adjusted to meet each student’s specific learning needs.
All students will study different styles of music as well as music theory and how it is applied to the instrument. Students are encouraged to explore a wide range of musical styles including classical, flamenco, jazz, blues, and more. Of course popular music and student song selections are equally encouraged. Playing music one likes is a lot of fun!!
Classes:
Each class will begin with a review of the previous class, new material, and proper practicing techniques. Together, we will continually assess and work toward your forward progress. For best results, you should practice at least 30 minutes a day.
Beginning:
You will learn the rudiments of reading music, notes below the fifth fret for all six strings, and open position chords. You’ll learn playing techniques through the music of both contemporary and traditional artists and various musical styles.
Intermediate to Advanced:
For continuing and advanced students, lessons are structured to meet their specific needs to gain mastery in the musical style of their choosing with a more in-depth approach. All instruction involves the theoretical and technical components of music.
Recitals:
All students are encouraged to participate in recitals during the year.
